The 2020 football offseason thread

Uh, I was still holding out hope that we'd get a bowl bid due to there being a shortage of bowl-eligible teams, but I just checked and we're out because our APR isn't in the Top 5.

He's got nothing left to prove at the college level, I totally get it.

Any more news on Big Ross? when do guys have to declare?

Nothing official, but the rumor is that NFL types like 3-years of college film...that works out great for us fans.

Enough 6-win teams this year anyway.

... My big questions as we head into the 9-month void: ...

Mine is: Whatever shall I do while in the void?

Maybe baseball this year again? One can hope.

We could always start the 2020 Football countdown at 200 days instead of 100 days???

Well, I heard there was a wonderboy,

That many teams would not employ,

But you don’t really care for Euros, do ya?

So where would he go? The fourth? The fifth?

Or would he fall and be a Knick?

The baffling Kings took Bagley over Luka...

Halleluka, Halleluka, Halleluka, Halleluka

Well his game was strong, but we needed proof,

We hadn’t seen him play Mizzou,

But his playmaking and passing overthrew ya,

And he led the break, it wasn’t fair,

His stepback three flew through the air,

It fell and Dallas traded up for Luka...

Halleluka, Halleluka, Halleluka, Halleluka

Well maybe he should’ve been your pick,

Even though he’s white and thick,

He’s colder than a tall glass of Kombucha,

And we all cheered for his debut,

An injured Dirk was cheering too,

And every Mavs fan shouted “Halleluka...”

Halleluka, Halleluka, Halleluka, Halleluka

So I guess we're not making any coaching changes?

I think it's still early to know. So many teams are in bowl practice and coaches who may be available or wanting to move are busy with their current teams. Also, as someone said previously, GP usually likes to give the person he is replacing time to find a new job before he announces a change. I think we should be patient. If nothing happens soon after all the bowls have been played, then we start scratching our heads.

Freshman defensive end Adam Plant has entered the transfer portal.

Word on the street is he's wanting to be closer to home due to an illness in his family.

Incoming grad transfer QB:  Logan Burnett from Mississippi State.

Originally from Pelham, AL, he was a walk-on at MSU and played in 5 games in his time in Starkville - though none of it was significant playing time.  So he's not being brought in to compete for the starting job, but rather add some seniority and depth to the QB room.

According to his tweet, he'll be pursuing an MBA at TCU.

Rumor mill says that Bryan Applewhite, the RB coach and recruiting coordinator at Colorado State, will be TCU's new RB coach.

I like the hire.  Not a big name assistant but he looks like a guy who knows his stuff.  CSU always seems to have a good running game.

It should be noted that, during his time as recruiting coordinator at CSU, the Rams pulled off quite the recruiting coups by getting Michael Gallup to campus.
