2020 Football Recruiting Thread, sponsored by Not Just Q

Recommended Posts

We're just two weeks away from Signing Day Part Deux for 2019, which means the 2020 cycle (which is already well underway, despite the Frogs not yet having any commits) will be full speed ahead very soon.  I'd guess we'll have commits soon.

I tried to think of another sponsor for this year's thread that would throw shade at Baylor, but instead thought I'd provide some exposure for David Hawthorne's new BBQ Spot in West 7th.

Anyway, we'll get this thread started with a list of the guys who've been offered by TCU (and aren't already committed elsewhere):

Aw, man. I knew the time would come when we had to move on from the Pappadeaux thread, but I don't know if I'm ready! I mean, there's gotta be some way to keep the Baylor  hate alive here.  Maybe you could help me out, @frogtwang

Thanks for starting this up, Lyle.

Just for fun, I noticed 247 has a list of the highest-rated recruits TCU has ever signed (at least since they started doing their ratings):

1. Tyson Thompson, 2000 5 stars (JUCO, then San Jose State)

2. Justin Rogers, 2018 4 stars (jury still out)

3. Ladarius Brown, 2011 4 stars (transfer)

4. Jalen Reagor, 2017 4 stars (superstar)

5. Devonte Fields, 2012 4 stars (transfer)

6. Sewo Olonilua, 2016 4 stars (star)

7. Isaiah Chambers, 2016 4 stars (transfer)

8. Omar Manning, 2017 4 stars (transfer)

9. Brandon Bowen, 2016 (jury still out)

Kind of reinforces my belief that starsies don't mean anything.

Ouch!!  All that unfulfilled potential stings.  By the way, JC said a few weeks ago that Manning is not coming back to TCU.  On the bright side, Reagor is a stud, Sewo is primed for a break out season if the O-line improves and Bowen might finally be healthy this season.

TCU will host their first junior day of the off-season on Saturday and several top targets from the 2020, 2021 and even the 2022 classes are expected to be on campus.

Eight prospects are expected to be in town for the invite-only event. Of those prospects, six of those players are offensive prospects, one defense and one special teams player.

The first commit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Jahdae Barron, corner from Pflugerville Conally.  No stars, not even a profile yet but apparently the coaches love his game.

Classic GP find to start the class off. Love it. He was very impressive in the Junior Day camp about a week ago. Modkins and GP told him they want him as their lockdown CB.

I don’t have access to 247, but I would have to think the priorities are CB, LB, DT, and WR (especially a tall possession type like Diarse/Doctson).

We should target a quarterback, because there likely will be a transfer of whoever doesn't get to start this season. And we need five offensive linemen, since we only signed three last year.

For sure we need to land a QB, I just don’t think it’s a priority over the others I listed because we know we’ll be shallow at those positions next year. Especially CB and LB.

At QB, I would LOVE to land Haynes King out of Longview (Marcus Williams teammate). He’s got a hell of an arm and can take off in the blink of an eye.

Another commit! Dajon Harrison, WR from Hutto HS.

Dajon Harrison

5-11

180 lbs

WR

3-star

Hutto HS

Offers from Boston College, Rice, UL, and others. Receiving interest from TTech.

His skill set is very much YAC. He will be a weapon on screen plays and shallow slants, which opens up receivers like Reagor, Barkley, and Heights.

The Hullaby to UT commit is odd. He was very open that TCU was his dream school.

Sucks. But there are always going to be kids that want to play for the big school. Just the nature of it. Will always be that way.
