As a reminder of the tone and legacy that Coach P has established along with his love of music, the neck patch is in the shape and texture of a guitar pick.”

Come on. It’s a cool touch. When did you become such an old?

That statement is just a little extra. “Patterson plays the guitar so we made it a guitar pick. The end.”

Best statement I saw about them was from Frogs O'War, I believe....the win-loss record that goes with the uniforms will ultimately determine how I feel about them.  :)

Prior to 1998 we didn't have a ton to be proud of (football wise) TBH.

We did if you went back to the 1950s and before, which I don't.

Correct.  The dark ages lasted a loooooooooong time.  From 1960 until Fran arrived in '98, TCU had 6 winning seasons, one conference championship (shared 5 ways) and only 2 bowl games (both losses).

Some of my coworkers, who are fans of other teams in the conference, were trying to make fun of me about the new uniforms this morning.

Then I pulled up twitter and showed them the reactions of recruits.

This is from memory. Could be wrong.

'65 (6-5)

'71 (6-4-1)

'84 (8-4)

'91 (7-4)

'94 (7-5)

'95 (6-5)

SWC co-champ (thanks for cheating, Ags) in '94

'65 Sun Bowl lost to UTEP 13-12

'84 Bluebonnet Bowl lost to WVU 31-7

'94 Independence Bowl lost to Virginia 20-10

Yeah, not much.

Why? I think they're great.

Yeah, not much.

The days were so dark, those three winning (although not by much) seasons are usually forgotten....And they were quite unexpected each time, IIRC....

Let me guess, Baylor, Tech, UT, and A&M fans. Maybe OU?

They were literally the only ones giving the uniforms a thumbs down yesterday. Mostly UT and Tech fans though. One of the main Baylor writers actually thought they were cool.

I can't get over that all white uniform. I know I'm biased, but that's one of the all time best all-white uniform combos I've ever seen.

I'm not sold on the matte black helmet, but we'll see on game day...

They look worse in-game. Matte takes all scuffs and dirt immediately. It looks like a chalkboard.

I wish there was something about this set I could be excited about. The white trim on the sleeve is nice, I guess.

What would you have liked better?

Contain the new horned pattern within an oversized collar to more closely resemble the LT era triangles. And if not that, accomplish it with light embroidery rather than the cheap looking iron on finish.

No silver reflective numbers. Keep everything purple, black, and white.

A stripe down  the side of the pants to connect with the stripe on the helmet or the collar/sleeve trim.

A very light touch bloodline somewhere, such as the face mask paint.

High satin finish on the black helmet, similar to the purple helmet finish. No matte black.

A more organic horned design that’s true to the bend that happens on a real horned frog.

And yes, I’ll say it... no frog on the helmet.

Okay. I can get down with the triangles in the collar look. Also. I like steroid frog and I think it’s aged better than many people thought it would. But yeah just TCU on the Helmets with steroid frog on the pants maybe?

I really don't care all that much about the uniforms, but I want a fat frog on the helmet.  That is the only relatively iconic thing we've got on the uniform.  It's one of the few things a viewer who doesn't know us can see that distinguishes us from Northwestern ...

And, that said, I'm not a huge fan of the chrome.  I think it looks cheap.  Give me scuffed up matte...

I think that purple chrome looks best on tv
