When will we stop trying to force football games into baseball stadiums? The two setups just don't work at all!

Agreed - but also don't be surprised if either the Heart of Dallas Bowl or the Frisco Bowl moves into the Rangers' new stadium when it's built.

The reason I want to beat Cal so badly can be summed up as follows:

There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part!  You can't even passively take part!!  And you've got to put your bodies on the gears and upon the wheels!!  Upon the levers and upon all the apparatus!!  And you've got to make it stop!!  And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!!!

Had to look that one up.  I usually turn right to the sports page, after all.

There are different interpretations, but I'm pretty sure Mario Savio was referring to the Cal football machine...;)

SBNation University of Washington Dawg Pound Message Board Preview of the 2018 Cheez-It Bowl.

Cheez-It Bowl (December 26, 6pm PT, ESPN)

TCU vs California

The Horned Frogs will be playing a PAC 12 team in a bowl game for the third time in the last four years when they take on the California Golden Bears the day after Christmas. Who can forget the famous come-from-behind, triple overtime win over the Ducks in the 2015 Alamo Bowl? God that was beautiful.

The Frogs returned to the Alamo Bowl again last year and beat Stanford in another barn burner of a game.

This year’s version of TCU isn’t quite as scary as the last few iterations. Their scoring offense is down 10 points per game from where it was a season ago while, at the same time, it’s scoring defense is giving up nearly 6 points more per game.

Nevertheless, I think Justin Wilcox can expect another defensive slug fest for his Bears squad. TCU coach Gary Patterson has cajoled remarkably consistent defensive performances from what is admittedly not his best squad especially after you adjust for the ridiculous offenses on their schedule this year including Ohio State, Oklahoma and West Virginia. Expect something in the mid-teens from both teams in this one.

From 1967 to 1969, there was a shy professor at Cal Berkeley who taught in the field of mathematics.  Prior to arriving there, no one really noticed anything wrong with him, but after he left, he had evolved into the monster that the world remembers as the UnaBomber.  That's right - Ted Kacyzinski paradigmizes the entire ethos of the Cal football machine, I mean, say what you will about the tenets of National Socialism, at least it didn't involve the seemingly random mail bombings of an individual who so totally rejected the advances of the Technological Society that he turned the whole concept on its head through the ruthless murder of innocents!  I say we need to teach the Cal Berkeley ethos and its football machine a lesson that mankind will not forget for a thousand years!

Eminent historian John Elway once labeled The Play (which occurred in 1982 at the end of the Cal-Stanford game) as the "greatest travesty" in human history, a "farce," an "insult to college football: and something that he would "have to live with until the day [he] died."  It prevented him from ever playing in a bowl game in his college football career and he went on to a middling career in the NFL and is now an unknown executive.  Stanford (known by Cal fans as "furd") has had numerous opportunities to avenge the loss that resulted from it, but TCU never has.  That is, until this year's monumental Cheez-It Bowl.  This is our chance!  I mean - THE BAND WAS ON THE FIELD!!!
