Joe Broadnax!

Recommended Posts

I had mentioned signing day that everyone I met from Bryan Adams was so excited about this kid and had nothing but great things to say about him. Damon Sayles of Bleacher Report has an article on him today that will really hit home on the guy, what a great get for the program:

DALLAS—The smile on Joe Broadnax's face beamed the morning of Feb. 4 at Bryan Adams High School. He had friends and family surrounding him. Teammates surrounding him. Classmates, underclassmen, coaches, teachers, even strangers.

They were all supporting the big man during his time to shine. It was national signing day, and he was officially a TCU signee.

But this day was a lot bigger than football for Joe Broadnax

For Broadnax, signing day his national letter of intent meant a son would fulfill a promise made to his mother he lost two years ago.

"I promised my her I would go to college," Broadnax said. "Now I just have to finish high school, maintain all As and Bs and continue to keep striving for excellence.

"It's what my mother would have wanted."

(much more)

Awesome article. As a former ball player and someone who lost a parent at 16, I can relate to having something like football being a great escape. I'll be rooting for him big time. Love the players we always seem to end up with.

Seems like quite a young man. I'm looking forward to him getting a good education and helping the Frogs win multiple championships. Que hombre!
