Sitting at a high school soccer game in a middle class, largely white suburb and over the PA comes Straight Outta Compton.  Can you imagine that song getting played at a suburban white public school 30 years ago?  The PA guy would have been fired on the spot and drug out of the stadium. How catastrophically Tipper Gore failed ...

In Wapo today are 2 Harry Nillson tracks that have not been heard much before. A new album is being constructed for a November release. If wekl were around I think he'd like UCLA.

 

...But on Nov. 22, Omnivore Recordings will release “Losst And Founnd,” which features Nilsson’s final recordings with a production polish by Hudson and some of the late singer’s friends, including Van Dyke Parks, Jimmy Webb and drummer Jim Keltner. Kiefo Nilsson, who was 8 when his father died, added bass to the album.

“Losst and Founnd” is not Harry Nilsson’s greatest work, but it’s a fitting coda for one of music’s most original characters...
