  1. Good luck w...with your bottoms
  2. Carlos Mendez tweeted this morning that Janczak is expected to start tomorrow night at DBU.
  3. Definitely Holmes. Even though I'm sure the Wilsons would still be ahead of him when they're healthy, I was surprised to see him playing LB alongside Wallow with the starters on defense. I should've mentioned him. He had one INT in the scrimmage, and almost another. Sounds like he may be able to see playing time at both S and LB this fall.
  4. I posted my thoughts in the football offseason thread: LINK

  6. The kid for UT that was playing against Fomba was a crybaby. Good at tennis, but a crybaby.
  7. True - although being a longshot with sketchy issues relating to one's father was a winning formula in the last election, so who knows. But his dad didn't buy him out of military service, so maybe he's off track.
  8. Interesting analysis of Pete Buttigieg's long-shot candidacy: LINK
  9. Another frustrating L. After falling behind 4-0 in the first, the Frogs came all the way back and eventually tied it at 6 on a Johnny Rizer solo bomb in the Top of the 9th. ...then walked the leadoff man in the bottom of the 9th, only to see him advance to 2nd on a bunt and come around to score the game-winning run on a base hit.
  10. A few observations from this evening's open practice: -Delton was not suited up, so Rogers was running with the 1s and Duggan with the 2s. Matthew Downing also got some reps. A number of people in the stands remarked at how big Rogers looked - he's really filled out, and I think he might have even grown an inch. He threw some really pretty balls (including a really great back-shoulder throw to Barber that resulted in an equally impressive catch for a TD) and looked to be more mobile than what we'd seen in the bowl game. Duggan is really, really quick. -DeMauryon Holmes was running alongside Garrett Wallow with the 1s on defense while Ben & Montrel Wilson weren't suited out. He has gotten much bigger, and looked natural playing LB. -Sewo was the only scholarship RB suited up. He had a few good runs and a long gain on a swing pass. Most of the RB reps went to #34 - the roster tells me that's Deryl Reynolds, a walk-on listed at WR that played at Alamo Heights and then transferred here from Colorado School of Mines. -Catch of the day was probably Artayvious Lynn going up to high-point a 50/50 ball on a deep pass from Rogers, and he had several catches on a variety of routes. Al'Dontrae Davis also had some impressive snags, and Ni'Jeel Meeking had a great catch & run on a slant from Duggan. -Vernon Scott made an insanely athletic INT to spoil a potential TD pass that got the fans in attendance pretty excited. -Ochaun Mathis looked huge, and was running with the 1s opposite Parker Workman. Adam Plant is HUGE. -Starting OL appeared to be, left to right - McKinney, Iwagwu, McMillon, Quazzel White and David Bolisomi. Esteban Aliva stuck out to me as an OL that's gotten bigger since last year. -Song and Bunce both made FGs from 45+...but both missed from closer. -Overall, I'd say the defense looked further along - not that suprising. As discussed previously, TONS of guys were sitting out. Many appeared to be doing so as a precaution, but Izaih Filikitonga had a boot on one foot and was using one of those scooter things.
  11. A couple of updates in regard to team assignments: -Luken Baker was promoted to Advanced-A Palm Beach by the Cardinals' organization -Taylor Featherston was assigned to Double-A Northwest Arkansas (Royals) -Jordan Kipper was assigned to Double-A Bowie (Orioles), but he's on the DL -Brian Trieglaff was assigned to Double-A Trenton (Yankees), but he's on the DL
  12. Charles King named the starter for Saturday's game against the Sooners GoFrogs.com: TCU-Oklahoma preview
  13. From the SB Nation Marlins Progress Report for April 5th: Rule 5 draft pick Riley Ferrell (biceps tendinitis) is eligible to return from the 10-day injured list, but he isn’t ready to do so. Expect a multi-game minor league rehab assignment before the Marlins make room for the right-hander on their active roster.
  14. If UCLA really wants us to play ball on buyout (re)negotiations, I'd start to consider if they offered a 3-for-1 football series and a 10-year rotating home & home series for baseball.
  15. This whole thing is pretty disappointing. I really like having live football games as an option to watch this spring. I'd been rooting for San Antonio because of all the TCU connections, but had also enjoyed watching Garrett Gilbert playing for the Ol' Ball Coach. Two interesting AAF-related news items today. One is a pretty eye-opening report on players being left with unpaid medical and housing bills: Deadspin: AAF's sudden collapse leaves players high and dry The other is pretty bittersweet, given the league's stated intention of becoming a developmental league to complement the NFL: ESPN: Chiefs sign Keith Reaser, CB from the AAF's Orlando Apollos
  16. Sounds like Jamie is going to let this whole thing remain in limbo through the end of the tournament while UCLA keeps him at arm's length waiting to talk to others.
  17. Thanks for that intel - MiLB player profiles are not always kept 100% up to date.
  18. A final look at the season: Alex Robinson -His 254 assists this year set a new program single-season record -His 672 career assists at TCU are a new program record and #4 all-time in the Big 12 -His 147 career steals at TCU rank #4 all-time for the program Kouat Noi -His 74 made 3's this year tied Hank Thorns' 2011-2012 season for #10 on the program single-season list Kevin Samuel -His 77 blocks this year set a new program freshman single-season record and ranked #3 on the program's single-season list -His 257 rebounds this year ranked #2 on the program freshman single-season list Kendric Davis -His 73 assists this year ranked #7 on the program freshman single-season list -His 33 this year tied Nucleus Smith for #6 on the program freshman single-season list RJ Nembhard -His 23 made 3's this year tied Tuffy Moss for #10 on the program freshman single-season list ...and looking forward, here's what I'll be keeping an eye on when the Frogs tip off next season: Desmond Bane -His 1,253 career points put him 174 away from passing Gary Turner for #10 all-time and 634 away from breaking Darrell Browder's school record -His 85 career steals put him 39 away from passing Jeff Jacobs for #10 all-time -His 157 career made 3's put him 4 away from passing Junior Blount for #10 all-time and 87 away from breaking Corey Santee's school record Kouat Noi -His 767 career points put him 233 away from the 1k mark and 660 away from cracking the current Career Top 10 (which Bane will likely disrupt before then) -His 143 career made 3's put him 18 away from cracking the current Career Top 10 (which Bane will likely disrupt before then) Kevin Samuel -His 77 career blocks put him one away from tying Damion Walker for #10 all-time and 95 away from breaking James Penny's school record
