  2. In the high school section, yeah, a great deal of what you see comes from a questionnaire the coaches fill out. That's where you get some really comical heights/weights/40 times, etc. The college section is mostly the work of whatever writer DCTF contracts with to write each indidivual team preview. They take guidance from offical depth charts provided by the schools, but editorialize on them somewhat (though not nearly as much as, say, Phil Steele - who'll sometimes put a top recruit above even an entrenched returning starter).

  4. I'm in the middle of this one right now. While it centers on President Polk and the Mexican War, it really covers a pretty large contextual swath of American politics and foregin policy in the mid-1800s. Pretty entertaining read so far.

That time Kyle Hicks scored 5 touchdowns and the Frogs dropped 62 on Baylor while their fans were all buying rape-enabler #CAB T-shirts in the parking lot ...and one bonus 62: James McMurtry was born March 18, 1962 - in Fort Worth.

  8. I've been travelling and/or sick for a few days. Our current 65: Colson Altmann A few memorable 65s: Dick Lowe Brady Foltz The "Hurricane Game" against Stanford was a pretty memorable experience for any of the 10,000 or so of us that were actually in the stands that rainy, rainy day while the remnants of Hurricane Ike blew through Fort Worth. Despite the size, it was quite possibly the most vocal crowd I can remember at Amon G. this side of the 2009 Utah game. Anyway, it was GP's 65th win at TCU. Nick Browne, one of the last men's soccer players at TCU, also kicked 65 career field goals on the gridiron Baylor just could not handle Jalen Reagor on his 65-yard TD reception from The Muehl in last year's win in Pappadeauxville.

Nix The WildFrog was born with Jeremy Kerley's breakout performance in a dominant 32-7 Thursday night win over BYU in 2008 - GP's 69th career victory at TCU Boykin had a 69-yard 4th quarter TD run as part of the Frogs' comeback road win over Kansas State in 2015.
  10. Thanks for posting - I just ordered a copy! My grandfather was friends with Mr. Maples. As a result, I've come into posession of the original sketches for many of his cartoons. Got them all framed a few years ago.

  15. -Nick Lodolo has been assigned to the Billings Mustangs of the (Rookie) Pioneer League by the Reds' organization. -Johnny Rizer has hit safely in every professional game he's ever played. Through 4 games for Low-A Aberdeen (Orioles), he's hitting 7-for-15 (.467) with 3 doubles, a triple, 4 RBI, 2 walks and a robust 1.329 OPS -Josh Watson collected his first professional hit last night, a single, for the AZL Athletics Green of the Arizona Rookie League.
