  1. Great. Half our team left at Christmas. Now we're leaving our recruits in the lurch.
  2. Also, worth noting: -Carpenter just surpassed 1,000 hits for his career -Arrieta's next win will be #100 for his career -Cashner's next strike out will be #800 for his career
  3. -Cashner has had mixed results in his first two starts for the Orioles. He was shelled by the Yankees on Opening Day in The Bronx, then scattered 4 hits across 6 scorless innings against the Blue Jays in his second. He's 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA, with his next scheduled start slated for next Monday against Oakland. -Arrieta picked up a W in his first start of the year, giving up 1 run in 6 IP against the Braves. He's 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA, with his next start scheduled to come Saturday afternoon against Minnesota. -Carpenter was 1-for-5 tonight with a double in the Cardinals' extra-inning win over Pittsburgh. Through five games, he's hitting 4-for-21 (.192) with 1 HR and 2 RBI. -Riley Ferrell remains on the 10-day DL for the Marlins.

  5. Yes, we'd have to buy a coach out of his contract...and then that school would have to buy their new coach out, etc. My point is that we shouldn't have to absorb the financial blow of that cycle. Handing JD and UCLA $7 million just because he wants to galivant out in Hollywood would be BS. He negotiated the buyout. If he wants to buy out his contract, great. The full $8 million then, Jamie.
  6. Well if he really wants that job, then pay the buyout he already negotiated.
  7. Kind of a shitty way to treat your alma mater. Maybe I should be thankful for what Jamie brought to the program, but if he's indeed taking this job right now it's evident that he'd made the decision well ahead of time. I can be tolerant of quite a lot of things - quitting on your team isn't one of them.
  8. In regard to negotiating the buyout from $8mm to $1mm...what would his side be giving to our side to convince JD to give away $7mm?
  9. Sad, if true. Sounds like a lot of smoke to this rumor this morning. People listen to 105.3?
  10. I almost wonder if GP negotiated the right to do this in his last contract extension.
  11. All joking about the victimhood of Manafort and the other disciples aside, I think we agree on the issues that can arise with the powers of government when there is a lack of integrity in its leadership.
  12. Well as long as lying is totally cool, those brave martyrs ought to take real issue with whoever is in charge. I'll go light a candle for sweet, innocent Saint Manafort.
  13. What was their motivation for lying? What were they so desperate to conceal? That's troubling to me.
  14. It often has been in the past, but I haven't seen any confirmation that it's definitely the case this year.
  15. I made the trek out west for that game. They held Jerry Hughes on every play but Stephen Hodge made just about every play he could've. Fun, comeback W.
  16. Opening Day start for a Frog! Cashner takes the bump for the Orioles tomorrow, at Yankee Stadium, at noon CT on ESPN. Arrieta's first scheduled start of the year for the Phillies is on Sunday against the Braves. It'll be on ESPN at 6:00pm CT.
  17. Headlines from tonight's win over Creighton: -Kouat Noi's six 3-pointers give him 73 for the season. He needs 1 more to tie Hank Thorns' 2011-2012 season for #10 on the school single-season list. -Kevin Samuel passed Derrick Davenport on the school single-season blocks list, where he now owns the #3 spot. He needs 2 more to tie Damion Walker for #10 on the all-time list, and 6 more to tie Vladimir Brodziansky's junior season for #2 on the single-season list. He also draws to within 19 rebounds of the freshman single-season record and 10 points of cracking the top ten on the freshman single-season scorling list. -Kendric Davis now holds the #7 spots on the freshman single-season lists for both steals and assists -RJ Nembhard has now cracked the top ten on the freshman single-season list for 3-pointers made
  18. While I'm glad there are 360 views from up there, he provided about 160's worth.
  19. Unsurprisingly, Scott Cross' time with the TCU basketball program is coming to a close after a short time - he's reportedly accepting the head coaching job at Troy. Thanks, Coach Cross - and best of luck!
  20. Dawson Barr on the bump this afternoon. For the Vaqueros, it'll be 6'3" righty junior Nick Hollas. He's 0-2 with a 7.00 ERA in 5 starts, a 1.72 WHIP and .312 opponents' batting average.
  21. We probably shouldn't take UTRGV too lightly. They're 15-9 on the year with wins over Oklahoma State and Kansas State under their belt - and gave the Longhorns all they could handle in a 4-3 Tuesday night loss in Austin a few weeks back.
  22. Another day, another filing to form an exploratory committee for a potential Democratic candidate in 2020: former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel, who left office in 1981 and will be 90 years old on election day next year. No, it's not a serious run for the White House - but upon reading the story, it sounds like it's not completely in jest, either: Politico: 'Do you know how old I am?': Teens draft Gravel to run for president
