  1. Pretty good read into what to expect IF his recent surge in the Iowa polls holds up: FiveThirtyEight: What Happens if Buttigieg Wins Iowa? Among other things, it discusses what effect Iowa has on New Hampshire and other early primaries - and in particular, his weakness with black voters.
  2. Schedule change alert: Kickoff for the West Virginia game on Friday the 29th has been pushed back by 45 minutes. It's now a 3:15 pm kickoff.
  3. ...and BOOM. LeDee was granted his waiver and will be on the court tonight, per Drew Davison of the FWST.
  4. There was a report in the Star-Telegram that said TCU expects a decision on Jaedon LeDee's waiver for immediate eligibility sometime this week - possibly as soon as today. At 6'9", 235lbs, we could sure use his size! Also, in tonight's game against Air Force - keep an eye on #12 for the Falcons, LaVelle Scottie. He's a Fort Worth native and a Heights grad.
  5. I didn't share my pessimism on the board, but I had a gut feeling all last week that we were going to pick up an L against sand aggy. Since being a Negative Nancy (at least privately) resulted in a W, I'm going to stick with it. Sooners by 100.
  6. So over the weekend, Trump went to Walter Reed for "portions of his annual physical" Aside from the unusual step of doing only portions of a physical - and doing so on a Saturday - it was also not previously on his schedule, as his previous ones have been - most recently in February of this year. Today, he held an unannounced meeting with the chairman of the Federal Reserve...which was held in the residence of the White House. While Trump's personal doctor and his current press secretary have described him publicly as being in perfect health, this all seems odd. He is, after all, an overweight 73-year old man with a well-documented taste for unhealthy food, propsentiy for anger and poor sleep hygiene.
  7. An update after the win in Lubbock Jalen Reagor has passed Kelly Blackwell and James Mannes, is now #7 on the career receptions list - he's also tied Josh Boyce for #2 on the career receiving TDs list. -He now has 141 career receptions, so he needs 4 to tie KaVontae Turpin for #8 all-time -He now has 2,182 career receiving yards, so he needs 28 to pass Stanley Washington for #6 all-time and 70 to pass Stephen Shipley for #5 -He now has 22 career TD receptions, so he needs 1 to break the tie with Josh Boyce for #2 by himself - and 7 to tie, 8 to break Josh Doctson's school record Darius Anderson now has: -2,383 career rushing yards, so he needs 220 to pass Matthew Tucker for #10 all-time -788 rushing yards this year, so he needs 291 to pass Ed Wesley's 2010 season for #10 on the single-season list -18 career rushing touchdowns, so he needs 3 to tie Andre Davis & Ed Wesley for #10 all-time -7 career 100-yard games, so he needs 1 more to tie Mike Lutrell for #10 all-time Max Duggan now has -15 TD passes this year, so he needs 2 to tie Kenny Hill's 2016 season for #10 on the single-season list. -1,868 passing yards this year, so he needs 527 to pass Jeff Ballard's 2006 season for #10 on the single-season list.
  8. From 2016: "We're a debtor nation - we've got to get rid of the $19 trillion in debt. I think I could do it fairly quickly" Adding to that debt, and at the Obama-like pace that he's done it at, is not small government at all. While he has made spending cuts in some areas, he's increased it in many others - mostly indulgent red meat for his base and paying for it with their (and our) children's money. That's probably true. We know for a fact that Clinton did, but the Democrats shamefully circled the wagons for him the way that Republicans are for Trump. You can't scream "due process" while sticking your head in the sand and acting as if Congressional subpoenas are all of a sudden an optional thing.
  9. Great point. With the low-energy bunch in their current clown-car of candidates, they really need to portray Trump as a boogey-man to sufficiently motivate & potentially expand their base this cycle.
  10. Yeah, although - even if the Democrats end up failing to produce conviction-level evidence, we've clearly seen that Trump is not a leader and not a conservative. It mystifies me that so many on the right treat him like a god.
  11. Yeah the Democrats should heed the warning sign of the Republicans' push to impeach Clinton in '99. It backfired on them so bad, they won the next two elections.
  12. Tarleton State is moving up to Division I LINK to the Star-Telegram story They'll be in the WAC (!!!) for all sports but football, in which they plan to be an FSC independent. They've already announced a road football game against A&M in 2025, and the article said they're in talks to play the Frogs in Fort Worth in 2021. I wouldn't be surprised to see them pop up semi-regularly on our non-conference basketball schedule and be a regular Tuesday night visitor to Lupton in the future.
  13. I'm guessing the plan is to redshirt Pearson and Todd?
  14. A few quick updates after the win over ULaLa: -The Frogs, collectively, set a new school record by hitting 18 three-pointers last night. -Samuel passed Craig Sibley on the all-time blocks list - he's now #7, and needs 17 to pass Karviar Shepherd for #6 -Bane passed the 1,300-point mark for his career, and is now 123 points away from passing Gary Turner for #10 on the all-time scoring list -The victory puts Dixon two away from reaching 400 for his career, and was the 70th for him at TCU. With one more, he'll tie Matty Bell for #8 on the TCU coaching wins list.
  15. Fuller looked 1,000% better tonight than he did in the opener. Really liking the steady improvement we're seeing from Nembhard, too.
  16. So do they drive, like, really nice minivans?
  17. Hey Jared - what are Cam's chances to qualify for the Olympics next year?
  18. FSU is certainly higher-profile, but Norvell has ties to Arkansas (the state, not necessarily the University), so that might factor into the equation for him. Drinkwitz is interesting - certainly a rising star, but not yet with the skins on the wall that U of A might want/need in this hiring cycle.
  19. Indeed. During the game on Saturday, they played the songs for each branch of the armed forces and asked veterans of them to stand up. Hard to imagine the ways in which my life would be different if it weren't for the service of the men & women I saw standing around me. I hope that any criticism I have for American foreign policy is never confused with a lack of deep gratitude for those who have served. It's a debt I'll never be able to repay. Thank you.
  20. Here's what I'm hearing from Razorback fans in regard to their priority: 1) Somehow convince Malzahn to leave Auburn and come "home" 2) Norvell. I think #1 is a longshot. While Malzahn is perpetually on the hot seat at Auburn, I find it hard to imagine them letting him walk away to an in-division rival. #2 is a much safer bet, unless Norvell gets offered a lot more money by a higher-profiled program. I think he'd be a good fit in Fayetteville, but then again, I thought Morris would be so who knows.
  21. Gotta get a W this weekend. Good thing the road teams have dominated this series as of late.
  22. Apparently Donald Trump Jr has written a new book. In one section, he writes the following about his thoughts while driving past Arlington National Cemetary: "as we drove past the rows of white grave markers, in the gravity of the moment, I had a deep sense of the importance of the presidency and a love of our country ... In that moment, I also thought of all the attacks we'd already suffered as a family, and about all the sacrifices we'd have to make to help my father succeed" ...so there's that.
  23. Real quick update after last night's season-opener: -Bane passed Junior Blount and Marcus Shropshire on the career three pointers made list, is now #9 all-time and needs 16 to pass Malcolm Johnson for #8. -Samuel passed Damion Walker and Marlon Dumont on the career blocks list, is now tied with Dennis Davis for #8 all-time and needs 5 to pass Craig Sibley for #7
