  1. Thinking about investing in a ticket package to the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL. It's 10 games for $150, a pretty good deal. So, that would be $300 for two tickets, and I'm thinking Isaac might be ready to go to some games. Of course, what we really need is a snowblower, but it shouldn't snow much here this winter, should it?
  2. Not only that, but I just can't see global soccer fans flocking to a country with, uh, restrictive laws and attitudes about alcohol, women and other thing soccer fans love. I highly doubt it'll move to winter. The clubs have too much power to let that happen. My sincere guess is that it'll come to the US. I really hope so
  3. I think he was fourth string in Jacksonville when he died a few years ago... Was one of my dad's favorites. I heard many, many stories about him growing up. Close second would be Jim Brown
  4. I seriously doubt Qatar will end up hosing this tournament. The wheels for moving it somewhere else seem to be in motion. No way will a middle eastern country with crazy hot weather and no booze actually host a World Cup. My guess is that it'll be moved to England or the US by the time the tournament starts next summer in Brazil. We'll see. http://www.tsn.ca/soccer/story/?id=428320 By the way, typing "2022" as a year feels really weird
  5. Yeah, the talking heads up here have a real rapier wit
  6. Can't wait for the sports radio fallout from this I hate you! I think he meant it
  7. Gary Tanguay is an ass. Whether he's right or wrong, he's always an ass. This is a pretty decent shouting match over whether Bill Belichick will or should apologize about Aaron Hernandez popping some guys. 8. You never went to junior high. Or was that intentional? Not sure if serious...
  9. Actually, I worked in the parking lot, driving the trams and directing traffic. Horrible job
  10. You wouldn't like it as an adult. It's hot, overcrowded and overpriced. It's crawling with teenagers. I really never enjoyed it after that summer I worked there, when I was 16. I might have gone back once or twice after that, but I really lost interest. It's been easily more than 20 years since the last time I was there. At the time I worked there, summer of 1990, the biggest crowd in the history of the park had been for a Night Ranger concert in 1984. I think it was something like 84,000 people (not all for the concert, but in the park that day). A big summer Saturday would draw 50,000-60,000 people when I worked there, so 84,000 must have been total chaos. I can't even imagine
  11. Oh, yeah. Big lawsuit. I'm kind of surprised this sort of thing doesn't happen more often. I worked at Six Flags the first year the Texas Giant was open (1990). There was an extreme temptation to point to my crotch and say, "Right here, baby!" anytime a lady asked where the Texas Giant was...
