Arrieta gives up 2 runs in 8 IP for the Phillies this afternoon against the Mets. Improves to 3-1 on the year with a 2.25 ERA. Next start is Monday, also against the Mets. It'll be on ESPN.

It is completely reasonable to expect occasional hitting funks and occasional bad outings from pitchers, even on "championship level" teams. We have evidence this team can hit. They've scored 6 or more runs in 21 of 35 games the season. They've gotten double-digit hits in 20 games. They are going though a funk. We have seen very little evidence that this team can pitch, outside of Lodolo (and maybe King and Perez). There is no funk ... this is what the team has to work with. And when a team can't pitch, it is going to lose games during hitting funks.

I'm so happy CJD is here for the long haul. It looks as if CJD and his assistants have wasted no time hitting the recruiting trail. Looks to me that we're going to have a kick ass basketball team that we'll all be proud of for years to come.

UT in CStat would be entertaining. Not the game itself, but the fan interactions.

Sure. I'd frankly be shocked if they sent Texas that far away from home, especially as a 2-seed. I think they'd be far more likely to send a smaller fan base away if there weren't enough regionals in the southwest to host them all.

TCU basketball hosting two OV's this weekend TCU basketball hopes to have another successful weekend on the recruiting trail as they plan to host two official visitors this weekend; Isaiah Ihnen and Kevin Easley. Last weekend the Frogs hosted three visitors and two of them gave commitments following their visit; Xavier transfer Keonte Kennedy and Mickey Pearson, the No. 81 small forward in the nation according to the 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-9, 205-pound Ihnen is out of Munich, Germany. In addition to TCU, he will also visit Minnesota and Tennessee while in the United States. Ihnen told Evan Daniels of 247Sports that he feels he could flourish for the Frogs. "I like their playing style, and I think that I could flourish there,” Ihnen said of TCU. In addition to Minnesota and Tennessee, Ihnen holds offers from Arizona State, Stanford and UNC Greensboro. Originally a 2018 prospect, Easley is transferring from Tennessee-Chattanooga. A three-star prospect out of Indianapolis Lawrence North, the 6-foot-6, 232-pound small forward had a spectacular freshman campaign in 2018-2019. Easley led Chattanooga with 14.4 points per game and averaged 6.5 rebounds while averaging 27.9 minutes per game. For his efforts Easley was named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year. He became the first player in Chattanooga history to win the award. If Easley chooses the Frogs he would have to sit due to the NCAA transfer rules. TCU is building on replacing at least seven players from last year’s roster. Four players have transferred, two have graduated (Alex Robinson and JD Miller) and Kouat Noi has declared for the NBA draft. If Noi is not selected he will pursue his pro dream overseas. Desmond Bane has also entered his name into the NBA draft but has not signed with an agent which leaves his return to TCU for his senior season as a possibility. The Frogs are coming off a 23-14 record and berth in the NIT semifinals in 2018-2019. The main contributors returning include Kevin Samuel, Kendric Davis, RJ Nembhard and reserves Russell Barlow and Lat Mayen. Dylan Arnette redshirted last season.

Cam Norrie lost this morning 2-6, 5-7 to Lorenzo Sorego in the Round of 16 at Monte Carlo. Making the third round is a good result for Cam after his failures at Indian Wells and Houston and this is his best ever performance in a Masters 1000 event, but Sorego is/was ranked #96, so it's still disappointing that Cam can't easily beat those ranked below him even while upsetting more highly ranked players.

Cars are parked under cover, and the trailer is covered with cushions, secured by a tarp/tension straps. Fingers crossed. Looks like the biggest threat will be around midnight.

TCU in a good spot for Corey Wren following OV If you watch film on John Curtis (LA) prospect Corey Wren, it doesn’t take long for TCU fans to recognize the similarities in his game and former Frog KaVontae Turpin. Both are around the same size and both possess explosive speed. Unlike Turpin coming out of high school, Wren isn’t a secret. In fact, the speedster holds over 20 offers from programs including Arizona State, Florida State, West Virginia, Tennessee and TCU among others. Wren recently made his way to Fort Worth last weekend for an official visit to TCU. The visit impressed the Louisiana product. “I really enjoyed the visit, it has always been a dream of mine to stay in Texas,” he said. “So, just being around that type of atmosphere was great.” Wren liked many aspects of the visit but he said his favorite part was the time he spent hanging out with TCU offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie. Wren says the plan Cumbie showed him on how they would utilize his skills was exciting. “Talking with Sonny Cumbie was the best part about the visit. Coach Cumbie broke down the film to me for a good 30 minutes and the play they have for me is very exciting,” Wren said. “They plan to give me the ball in space and that’s my type of game.” Wren not only has the fastest 100-meter time in Louisiana this track season, his 10.41 is also the 10th best time in the nation according to Athletic.net. With that kind of speed, it’s no surprise that Cumbie feels Wren could make an immediate impact. Wren says early playing time is a big factor for him. “He told me I can come in and be a big factor right away as a true freshman,” he said. “So yes, that does play a big role in my decision making knowing that his coach has a plan for my game.” Another factor that could weigh in TCU’s favor is the advice he received from linebacker Garret Wallow, an ex-John Curtis player himself. Wren says Wallow gave him some great advice regarding the Frogs. “One huge thing about the program he told me is the stability of the coaching staff; knowing that Coach P has been there for so long. It’s great to know that you’ll come in with the same coach you started with,” Wren said. “I’m huge on that.” Wren says he may visit Arizona State next for an official visit but that is still up in the air. As for when he plans to narrow things down and where TCU stands, things are looking good for the Frogs. “I plan to drop my top schools around the end of spring ball but I can promise you TCU is a top school of mine,” Wren said. “It’s a great program with a great family vibe.” With plans to major in sports medicine, Wren says he’s keying in on a few important factors to help make his decision. 1COMMENTS “A school that shows loyalty is a key aspect for me; a program with a winning mentality and a family program,” he said. Wren is rated as the No. 49 athlete in the nation and No. 29 overall player in Louisiana according to 247Sports.

My Top 10 would be: Nicklaus Woods Hogan Nelson Player Watson Jones Snead Faldo Ballesteros I've never even seen Dirk play golf, certainly not at Augusta and I don't even know if he plays golf - I certainly wouldn't put him in the Top 10, let alone Top Eleventy Gazillion of Masters Players all-time. I'm unclear as to why we're even discussing this...

Should we be giving up 6+ runs to UTA and Seton Hall? Absolutely not. But our “championship level offense” has left a lot to be desired against those teams as well. Three runs and 12 LOB deserves an earful. Honestly, the # LOB this season has been pretty much as worrisome as our pitching.

Good news and bad: The bad: Brandon Finnegan has been reassigned by the Reds' organization to the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer (Rookie) League. So he's in extended spring training for now. The good: Kevin Cron is 10-for-23 during his current 6-game hit streak for Triple-A Reno (D'Backs). That stretch also includes 5 walks drawn against just 2 strikeouts. Through 12 total games, he's hitting .340 with five doubles, 4 HR, 16 RBI and a 1.138 OPS.

If you're a weather nerd like me, this is the best storm chaser website I've found. You can zoom in on the map to where the green dots are and click on them. That will bring up a window with that chaser's camera. Click on the arrow and you get a live feed from their dash cam. The orange dots are chasers who are out, but not online at that time. Once the weather really amps up, you'll get lots of green dots and you'll quickly be able to tell the experienced, professional chasers from the yahoos. I like Bob Pack and David Drummond, especially David. He's not chasing today, but he's always very informative during a chase and has a great FB page, too. Good luck to those in East Texas or with family there and further east into LA and MS. It looks like a bad weather day. https://livestormchasing.com/map
