  1. Big thanks to Jared for keeping us all up to date with the tennis program. Can't wait to see what they can do in Athens.
  2. -Arrieta took his first L of the season last night against the Red Sox, giving up 5 runs and 10 hits in just over 4 innings of work. He's now 3-1 with and saw his ERA swell to 4.66. Next start is this coming Wednesday at home against the Phillies. -Cashner gave up two runs in 4 IP in his last start for the Rangers, but took the L to drop to 0-2 with a 2.93 ERA. Next start is Monday night against the Astros at Enron Field. -Carpenter, as mentioned above, had the walk-off grand slam against the Blue Jays (it was off of former UT pitcher J.P. Howell) earlier this week. He's now batting .250 with 3 HR and 11 RBI. -No update this week on Finnegan's DL stint.

AAA: -Stefan Crichton tossed an inning and two-thirds of scoreless relief for Norfolk in his first outing since being sent back down by the Orioles. -Matt Purke is scoreless over his last four relief appearances for Charlotte (White Sox), lowering his ERA to 3.00 -Taylor Featherston has hit safely in 2 of his last 3 starts for Lehigh Valley (Phillies), but his batting average has dipped from .231 to .212 -Bryan Holaday has 5 RBI during his current 4-game hit streak for Toledo (Tigers), and hit his first home run of the season. -Chad Huffman had his 5-game hit streak snapped for Memphis (Cardinals), and his average has leveled off a bit to its current .250 -Jantzen Witte has 7 RBI during his current 7-game hit streak going for Pawtucket (Red Sox), raising his batting average to .289 -Kyle Winkler has given up one run over 3 IP in his first two relief appearances for Durham (Rays). In his second appearance, though, he tossed a scoreless inning. I'll avoid posting his current ERA. -Jerrick Suiter has started 4-for-15 (.287) through 4 games for Advanced-A Bradenton (Pirates) Mexican League: -Jerome Pena has hit safely in his last two starts for Vaqueros Union Laguna. Status still uncertain: -Nick Frey is still listed on MiLB.com as being active for Class A Peoria (Cardinals), but isn't listed on the Peoria roster on their website -Trey Teakell has been on the disabled list for Class A West Michigan (Tigers) since before the 2016 season began.   10. Phil Taylor, who was a walk-on WR for TCU from 2012 to 2015, was diagnosed with cancer in December. The GoFundMe page his aunt set up for him is seeking to raise $25,000 to help pay for his treatment. They're at $2,055 right now.

He took a no decision to remain at 1-0 on the season and the one earned run he surrendered raised his ERA to 1.00. His next start is at home tomorrow afternoon against the Brewers. -Carpenter's slow start continues, as he is now 5-for-26 (.192) to start the season. He has walked (7) more times than he's struck out (5), though. -Arrieta struck out 10 in his second start of the year, giving up three runs in 7 innings. He improved to 2-0 on the season and his ERA increased to 2.08. His next start is at home tomorrow afternoon against Pittsburgh. -Cashner may start Saturday for the Rangers in Seattle, according to the Star-Telegram.
